In Italy the EORI number is IT followed by the VAT number, and it becomes active with the first customs operation. A business that has never imported or exported outside the EU usually doesn't have one.

Do you store the numbers I enter?

No. The result passes through our server and reaches you without being stored. For the day we only keep, in pseudonymised form (hashes), deleted the following day, the outcome of numbers that turned out not valid and a count of requests: it stops us from asking the European service the same question twice. We don't build archives and we don't use the data for anything else.
